This 4-door pickup was firstly introduced back in 20012 and it was the 2002 Model Year. At the time, the Avalanche shared the same platform with the Cadillac Escalade EXT and with the Chevrolet Suburban. However, in 2013, Chevrolet decided to discontinue the Avalanche because it was having poor sales.

At the moment, the family-centric pickup market seems to be coming back and there are already many manufacturers targeting it. So, we will have a new 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche.

So far, we know that the new 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche will be smaller than the old model. However, this won’t affect the cabin which means the truck bed at the back may be suffering all the consequences.

The truth is that even though the market is quite hot, the competition is already there as well. So, the 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche needs to have a pretty competitive price. The truth is that Chevrolet won’t be offering it too cheap. We are counting with a starting price for the new 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche at about $40,000.

The truth is that we can really see the new 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche as a completely new pickup. After all, the model was discontinued back in 2013 as we already mentioned. So, we just can’t compare both.

In our opinion, the new 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche should be a lot lighter than the older one because it will be using some composite materials, high-strength steel, and aluminum. We are expecting to see a reduction of about 200 pounds.

In what relates with the exterior design, we are expecting to see a boxy, big, and square pickup, with a reasonable aerodynamic design. It should be pretty similar to the Honda Ridgeline which should be the Avalanche main competitor.

According to some rumors that we have been hearing, it seems that Chevrolet has been working on two different engines – a V8 and a V6. So, under the hood, we are expecting to see a smaller V6 turbocharged engine. Even though there is no official data, we are expecting to see either a 3.5 or a 3.0-liter V6 engine that should be able to produce between 280 and 340 of horsepower and 400 pound of torque.

The standard version of the new 2018 Chevrolet Avalanche should come as rear-wheels. However, you should have the option to get the all-wheel drive on a higher trim level.

In what concerns with the transmission, we are expecting to see a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
